Medbulk places great emphasis on the ongoing care of cargo carried in our vessels, with a focus on the following areas:

Equipment
At the present time, Medbulk utilizes equipment (pulp heads) designed and built locally for our stevedoring partners. This equipment is well-proven and reliable and lifts up to 13 pulp units each time in a single line. With the advent of our newbuildings, we will be employing pulp-heads featuring double-wide loads of up to 16 units per lift.

Stowage
Accountability and responsibility for the stowage of cargo rests with the trained and experienced Medbulk Canadian staff in Vancouver.Initial pre-stow plans are done two to three weeks before the vessel’s arrival on the coast in order to verify the workability of the load and discharge rotation, both from our perspective as well as from that of our shippers.

As the vessel approaches and the final adjustments are made to the cargo mix, the stowage becomes a work-in-progress. At all times, “flexibility” is the key-word enabling us to accomodate last minute changes that are a feature of the break-bulk forest products business.
