The Medbulk service commenced in the early 1930s when the d'Amico family began importing lumber for use in their mills. Since then the business has developed over the years and now focused on the forest product trade and other smaller parcels originating from the west coast of North America – from where Medbulk performes at least one sailing per month to the Mediterranean. With the aide and expertise of our office in Vancouver we can ensure a prompt and dependable service.

Medbulk fleet consist of 5 Handysize “open hatch box-shaped” vessels. In 2008 a further 5 vessels will be added, bringing the fleet to a total of 10 ships.

Due to the expanding fleet a growing number of vessels will be available for market cargoes. The initial focus will be put on the steel industry where the design of the vessels offer greater flexibility.
Medbulk covers all the main trade routes through two kinds of services.

The first one is based upon long-term contracts with many of the leading forest product manufacturers in North America. These customers turn to Medbulk for its unmatched flexibility in adjusting sailing dates to production and sales schedules, the frequency of ship calls and the wide-ranging port coverage both in the Mediterranean and ports en route within scheduling constraints.

The second one is characterized by the transportation of both bulk material and in containers. This service is provided to clients on a “trip” basis, with regard to the specific needs expressed by the client.
